Cyber University Chosen Twice in a Row for Remote Education Innovation Support Project ? - Education Ministry's Financial Support Initiative for Remote Higher Education Institutions ? Our university has been selected for the '2nd Remote Education Innovation Support Project' hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the Korea Education & Research Information Service (KERIS) for the second consecutive time, making it the first cyber university to achieve this. The 'Remote Education Innovation Support Project' is the sole government initiative that provides multi-year budgetary support exclusively for cyber universities. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, this project aims to enhance awareness of distance education and meet the growing demand for non-face-to-face higher education among adults. It is limited to cyber universities as supporting institutions and aims to develop innovative remote education models based on university specialization. The second-round project focuses on utilizing the remote education experience accumulated by cyber universities to develop models for activating remote education among marginalized groups. These models are intended to be adopted as a catalyst for university innovation and disseminated both internally and externally. The four universities chosen for the initiative will receive an annual support of 3.5 billion won over three years, focusing on developing a specialized undergraduate program (microdegrees) for educationally marginalized groups. This includes curriculum development, innovative teaching methods, extracurricular program implementation, and enhancements to teaching and learning support systems. After implementation in universities, the goal is to enhance educational capacity and empower adults with vocational skills for concurrent work-study opportunities. In the previous cycle (2021-2023) of the Remote Education Innovation Support Project, our university successfully executed the 'On-Flex Teaching Model,' emphasizing adult learner competency enhancement and academic system flexibility. Among the four participating universities, we were the only one to achieve the 'Very Good' rating in the three-year comprehensive evaluation. Furthermore, we participated in the 3rd Remote Education Excellence Case Competition (2023), organized by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Education & Research Information Service, and were honored with the Institutional Excellence Award. |
