Department Overview
This department is an integrated Professional Psychotherapy department that was newly founded for an undergraduate course of a 4-year university for the first time in Korea.
To let children, youths, and adolescents express their psychological state accurately during a counseling session, non-linguistic psychotherapy (applied behavior analysis, play therapy, fine art therapy, film or photo therapy, and role play) is essential together with linguistic counseling. You can learn diverse types of practical psychotherapy using media at the Department of Professional Psychotherapy.
The Department of Professional Psychotherapy aims to foster talents equipped with differentiated competencies and integrated discerning eye by learning all areas of Professional Psychotherapy based on psychological theories and experiencing diverse subjects related to psychotherapy skills and clinical practices. In the traditional one-way delivery of university lessons, it is difficult to foster specialists who can present effective prescriptions to the diverse complicated problems experienced by counselees in the actual site. Thus, this department applies teaching methods of a new paradigm focusing on the enhancement of problem-solving ability.

- Employment at psychological consultation centers, hospitals, welfare halls, voucher agencies, healthy family support centers
- Employment or operation of agencies related to developmental disorder
- Employment as after-school primary pupil instructors, junior and senior high school counselors
- Operation of or advice to private counseling and psychotherapy institutes
- Practicing private counseling and psychotherapy
- Supervisors conducting psychology refresher education programs and training courses related to psychological health for counseling-related teachers at primary and junior high schools, social welfare worker, nurse, kindergarten teachers, etc.
- To serve as special psychotherapist at psychology counseling centers, social welfare centers, psychological health centers, children and youth-related institutions, institutions related to developmental disorders or senior citizens, etc.
